Update!

Wow so its been SO long since I've updated. I've made tons of cakes since.

Here they are:

Popcorn Cupcakes I made for a friend

I made these to celebrate my grandmother's 91st birthday. At the time she was recovery from surgery in a rehab so I made these for the nurses.

Every year we go to see Fireworks at my dad's house, and I made these cupcakes. The red cupcake on the bottom left corner is a red 'B' gummy for my nephew Brady.

iPhone cake for my dad's 60th birthday!

My cousin's wife loves Disney and the idea of Happily Ever After so I made them there Mickey Groom and Minnie Bride cupcakes for their rehearsal dinner.

My aunt ordered this skateboard cake for her grandson Cole.

Cake for my friend Adrianne!

Janae's going away party cake!

Baby butt baby shower cake.

Ariel cake for Madison!

Chihuahua cake for my dad's wife. They have 5 dogs, so I made them on the cake.

I've made more cakes but I don't have them all on the computer.

I'm still learning new things, and working on my skills.

Baby bums and bon voyage

This weekend, I made two very different cakes.

The first of these is a baby bum cake.
A white cake with lemon curd and butter cream filling, this cake was made for one of my sister's co-workers. She had a baby shower for her sister. The bum is a carved cake covered in fondant (actually two layers of fondant, skin tone and then a white diaper...had to be realistic here!) The legs are twinkies covered in fondant and the feet are pure, solid fondant. This cake is adorable and appropriate for any baby shower.

The other cake for this weekend was a suitcase cake that had very special meaning for me. One of my best friends is heading to Palestine later this month. She will be there for a year, saving the world as I like to put it. Janae has a lot of passion for the world, especially the Middle East. Therefore, I made the traveler a suitcase. On the suitcase was four bumper stickers, one for each place she's lived or visited. She spent a year in NY for college, then transferred to Seattle, spent a summer in Egypt and now is headed off to Palestine. I am really proud of her willingness to think of others before herself, and the way she can so easily go out of her comfort zone. She is going to do great things, you just wait and see!

Up for this week: A very special surprise birthday cake for one of my best friends and a cake that will prove polka dots and stripes DO go together.

So what's the deal?

Here's my little introduction: Hi, my name is Jamie and I'm a 22 year old recent college grad, turned preschool teacher who loves cake and cupcake decorating. I'd say this passion developed way back when I was a kid. My godfather (trained in the culinary arts) gave my sister a pastry bag kit. I just recently asked my sister about that kit, and she seems to remember a certain little sister using it, and ruining it. Thats me! Since then I've developed my skills, and have experimented along the way. I make cakes and cupcakes.
